Double House
Punta Fuego, Philippines
The program called for a three bedroom plus den weekend residence for a young couple and their child on a 640 square meter lot. Our design is a two pavilion structure, linked by a sandstone path on the ground floor, and a timber bridge at the second floor, oriented to take advantage of the prevailing winds. The house consists of a series of interconnected open spaces which visually unify and simultaneously create expansive views. A contrasting palette of near black and white materials gives richness and strength to a simple design concept. A small dipping pool is provided between the living room, courtyard and lanai to enhance the grotto-like feel of a cool escape in the center of the house.
