Bougainvillea Residence
Dasmarinas Village, Manila, Philippines
An urban residence incorporating traditional and contemporary forms, this 820 square meter home is organized in an L-shaped plan, with all major rooms oriented toward a central garden. On the ground floor, interior and exterior spaces merge, as rooms appear nestled within the garden and within transitional spaces that traverse the site. The lanai, flanked by a reflecting pool and garden, is the center of the home, functioning both as the point of arrival and the informal place of gathering.
A rustic stone wall with softly cascading water at the reflecting pool, and a similar stone wall spanning the length of the swimming pool delineate the public and private boundaries.
